What's your Dry Eye Number?

Dry eye can occur for a number of reasons, either because your eyes don't produce enough tears, or the tears that are produced are of poor quality.

Up until recently, the biggest obstacle that eye practitioners faced was the inability to obtain an objective way to measure the quality of their patients' tears. The introduction of the TearLab™ Osmolarity device now allows us to measure the quality of your tear film. Osmolarity refers specifically to the salt content in your tear film.  If the amount of salt is too high, or the amount of water in the tear film is too low, your eyes may feel dry, scratchy and irritated.

The test itself is performed by gaining a very small sample of tears and is quick and painless. As a result, we are able to obtain a meaningful measurement of the health and stability of your tear quality and design a dry eye treatment plan designed specifically for you.
